How Does Dry Ice Blasting Work?

Aug 28, 2024 Leave a message

The dry ice particles are accelerated by compressed air, then they impact on the surface to be cleaned. Three different environments contribute to the cleaning effect: Kinetic effect: When the dry ice particles hit, the coating is released and detached. Thermal effect: The low temperature of the dry ice particles makes the coating brittle, causing cracks and facilitating its release because the bond between the pad and the underlying surface is reduced. Sublimation effect - Explosive effect: The dry ice penetrates the coating and immediately evaporates, resulting in an increase in volume of about 700 times. This explosive reaction lifts the coating off the surface.
