1. Application in the beauty industry

Some dermatologists use dry ice to treat acne, which is called cryotherapy. Because it will slightly freeze the skin.

One type of freezing material for treating acne is a mixture of ground dry ice and acetone, sometimes mixed with some sulfur. Liquid nitrogen and solid dry ice can also be used as materials for cryotherapy. Cryotherapy can reduce inflammation. Some time ago, the news reported that Liu Xiang used this cryotherapy to treat acne on his face. This method can reduce the formation of acne scars, but it is not used to remove scars.

2. Cold chain transportation in the medical industry

Vaccines are viruses or bacteria with toxicity removed, which also contain some enzymes, peptides, DNA, etc. Vaccines are fundamentally biological or protein, so they are extremely sensitive to temperature. If the storage temperature is too high, the vaccine will mutate and lose its original function. This leads to the need to store and transport in a low-temperature environment according to the type of vaccine and the temperature at which it needs to be stored. The reason is that the new crown vaccine developed by different companies and different batches of new crown vaccines require different refrigeration temperatures. Some vaccines need to be stored at minus 30 degrees Celsius, while some, such as the Pfizer vaccine, need to be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius. Such low temperatures cannot be achieved with ordinary ice, and refrigeration equipment is extremely expensive. Many third world countries simply cannot afford such expensive equipment. To ensure an extremely low temperature environment and a low price, only dry ice can do it. Dry ice is a necessity for cold chain transportation.
